Jackie Newhouse

Bass

Jackie Newhouse is an American bassist known for his role as the original bassist for Stevie Ray Vaughan’s band, Double Trouble. He joined the band in May 1978 after W.C. Clark left to form his own group. Initially, Double Trouble was a five-piece lineup with Vaughan, Lou Ann Barton (vocals), Fredde Walden (drums), and Johnny Reno (saxophone). Newhouse contributed to the band’s early success, helping to establish their reputation by performing in clubs around Texas. In October 1980, during a performance at Rockefeller’s in Houston, Tommy Shannon jammed with the band and expressed his desire to join. Newhouse was eventually replaced by Shannon in January 1981. After leaving Double Trouble, Newhouse continued to be involved in the music scene.
