Milo Hehmsoth
Piano, Ensembles
Originally from Austin, TX, Milo has been a musician since childhood. His father Hank Hehmsoth, a highly regarded pianist in his own right, taught him piano from a young age. He had a diverse upbringing of private violin, piano, music and theory classes, providing him a broad set of experiences to draw from. In 2015 he honed his love into the piano as a primary instrument, leading to the study of jazz and improvisation.
He attended the University of Texas and studied with Jeff Helmer, John Fremgen, and John Mills in 2017, including lessons with Nitai Hershkovits, Fred Hersch, and Benny Green. His sound heralds from the obsessions of his youth with Bill Evans, Brad Mehldau, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. His technique of articulating melodies is heavenly and his solos, each an exploration into the sound of the band.
Milo has shared the stage with Austin mainstays Scott McIntosh, Andre Hayward, Autumn Henderson, Jacob Wise, Dr. James Polk’s Centerpeace, and Terrance McDaniel’s “The Blacklist”. Milo teaches with NSM VP, Joe Morales, in the New School Jazz Club classes.
